March's Birthstone - Aquamarine

Known as "one of the most sophisticated and beautiful jewels in the world", the aquamarine gemstone is the birthstone for March.

The gemstone varies from light-greenish blue hue to bright blue tone. Aquamarine’s etymology is, “Aqua” meaning “water” and “Marina” meaning “sea” which translates as “sea water”.

Aquamarines that are deeply colored blue have higher values. Aquamarine derives its color from the traces of Iron on its structure. And for aquamarine to achieve its deep blue color, it undergoes a process of heating to eliminate the traces of its natural green color impurities

This gemstone is recognized as the Zodiac sign for Scorpio and the planetary sign for Pisces. It is also the assigned stone for the planet Neptune. In earlier cultures, it was thought that wearing Aquamarine would give the wearer beauty, honesty, happiness, loyalty, increased intelligence, and youthfulness.
